Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Beans
Coffee was first introduced to the island of Jamaica in 1728. It wasn't until 1838 that the inhabitants of Jamaica began cultivating coffee themselves. Jamaica Blue Mountain owes its name to the "Blue Mountain" mountain range, where the coffee is grown.
The coffee is grown between 910 and 1700 meters above sea level. This makes Jamaica Blue Mountain one of the world's highest-grown coffees. The cool and misty climate at this altitude protects the coffee bean from the intense sun.
All Jamaica Blue Mountain beans are hand-picked to prevent lower-quality beans from being included. Hand-picking the coffee beans has an enormously positive impact on the quality of the coffee.
How does Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee taste? Jamaica Blue Mountain has a very full body, and this full body, combined with sweet fruity and nutty notes, gives Jamaica Blue Mountain a unique flavour. This unique flavour is followed by a sweet and mild aftertaste that lingers on your palate for a long time. Watch the Jamaica Blue Mountain video on YouTube.
Kopi Luwak Coffee Beans
The origin of Kopi Luwak is intertwined with the history of coffee production in Indonesia. From the 18th century onwards, coffee plantations emerged throughout Indonesia. These plantations were controlled by Dutch governors. It was forbidden for indigenous farmers and plantation workers to pick coffee beans for their own use. However, the farmers quickly discovered that civet cats ate these coffee cherries and then left them undigested in their droppings. The undigested coffee cherries were collected by the farmers to make a drink. Luwak coffee quickly spread from the local population to the plantation owners, who were very impressed by the taste of the coffee. Due to its special process, rarity, and high demand, Luwak coffee was very expensive.
The civet cat loves the coffee cherries that grow in Indonesia. However, the Luwak does not digest the coffee bean, only the pulp. The droppings are found and then dried in the sun for about 4 to 7 days before the beans are hand-sorted. The amino acids that are formed during the digestion of the coffee cherry give the beans a unique taste during light roasting.
Experts claim that Kopi Luwak owes its special taste to the fact that during the digestion process, the acids, gastric juices, and enzymes have been able to act on the beans. This ensures that Kopi Luwak is a coffee with a full body and the perfect combination of sweet and fresh. Every civet cat has a unique digestive process, which means that every cup of Kopi Luwak will also be unique. Watch the Kopi Luwak video on YouTube.
Hawaii Kona Coffee Beans
In 1820, the British first introduced Brazilian coffee plants to Hawaii. It wasn't until 1842 that the first coffee plantations were started in the Kona region. In a short time, the plantations grew to become one of the most famous coffee plantations in the world. Additionally, Hawaii is the only state in the United States where coffee is produced.
The famous Kona coffee grows on the slopes of Hawaii's Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes at an altitude between 250 and 800 meters. This volcanic soil is rich in numerous minerals and nutrients. The volcanic soil, combined with sunny mornings and rainy afternoons, creates a natural greenhouse, allowing Kona coffee to thrive in these conditions.
Kona coffee is known among coffee lovers worldwide as the best coffee under the sun. Hawaii Kona can be described as a coffee with a medium body combined with nutty and caramel-like undertones. Watch the Hawaii Kona video on YouTube.
