Cleaning an espresso machine

You've invested in a good espresso machine or coffee maker. You'll want to enjoy the machine, and with it your perfect cup of coffee, for as long as possible. Good cleaning and maintenance are therefore essential. Cleaning your espresso machine is necessary to keep the parts clean, ensuring they last longer.

Maintaining your espresso machine

There are several ways to clean your espresso machine. These include thorough maintenance every now and then, or daily rinsing of the machine.

If you clean and maintain your espresso machine often enough, it will last longer. But how do you clean the appliance properly and what can you use for it? We'll explain.

Cleaning your espresso machine

As mentioned above, it's important to clean certain parts of your espresso machine daily. Provide the water reservoir with clean water every day and, if necessary, clean the reservoir daily as well. This way, your coffee will continue to taste good.

When frothing milk, make sure to clean it thoroughly. Milk residues are a common place for bacteria to thrive, and the machine will also become clogged if you don't clean this part properly. Clean the steam wand immediately after use.

Cleaning the milk tube is also important. Usually, the espresso machine has an automatic rinse cycle that cleans the milk tube. If not, place the milk tube in a cup of clean water. This way, you can still clean the tube.

Furthermore, it is important to thoroughly clean your espresso machine, for example, every month.

Using cleaning products?

Although there are various tricks and ways to clean your espresso machine without using cleaning products, you need to know what you're doing. Some agents are not beneficial for cleaning your machine, such as vinegar.

It might be best to just use a cleaning product specifically designed to clean your espresso machine.
