Hoe kun je koffie of koffiebonen bewaren?

How do you store coffee or coffee beans?

The secret to good coffee is freshness. Immediately after roasting, coffee beans gradually lose their aromatic oils. Therefore, it is best to regularly buy small quantities of freshly roasted coffee, or ensure a good place to store the coffee beans. In any case, make sure to avoid warm, moist, and bright places.

Whole coffee beans vs. ground coffee

It's best to buy whole beans and grind them yourself at home, as the oils lose certain aromas even faster once the coffee is ground. Of course, you can also have the coffee beans ground at a specialty store and get information there. If you are more involved with coffee and attach great importance to the optimal freshness of the coffee, buy a coffee grinder so you can grind your coffee beans at home, just before brewing coffee. You can adjust your grind fineness even more evenly for optimal results, from coarse to very fine.

Coffee bags with valve

Roasted coffee produces carbon dioxide, which builds up pressure in the coffee bag causing it to bulge. That's why a valve is integrated into our coffee bags. This way, the carbon dioxide gets out, but no oxygen gets in. This keeps the coffee fresh for longer and extends its shelf life.

When packaging the coffee, the coffee is degassed. As a result, there is a negligible amount of oxygen (only 0.7%) in the coffee packaging. This percentage further decreases due to the one-way valve. This ensures optimal shelf life.

Packaging process

The coffee is packed in a completely sterile environment to guarantee hygiene and freshness of the coffee.

Resealable packaging

All our coffee packages are resealable with a zip strip.

Storing coffee

Coffee is best stored in an airtight, dry container, in a cool cupboard (no, not in the refrigerator). Here it is dark and dry, perfect for the freshness of the coffee. You can also store the coffee beans in the valve-equipped coffee bags in the freezer for several months, which will extend their shelf life. You can even grind the beans frozen!
