Brewing Coffee with the Pour Over Method
The Pour Over brewing method is a manual way of brewing coffee, where hot water is manually poured over ground coffee. It is a technique that has been around for a long time but is still incredibly popular due to the control you have over the brewing process. By manually brewing the coffee, you can precisely determine the taste and strength of the coffee.
Step 1: The Right Supplies
To start brewing Pour Over coffee, you will need the right supplies. These include a Pour Over coffee maker, paper filters, freshly ground coffee, a kettle, and a coffee mug.
Step 2: Place Paper Filter in the Device
Place a paper filter in the Pour Over coffee maker and rinse the filter thoroughly with hot water. This ensures that the paper taste and any fibers from the filter are removed.
Step 3: Add Ground Coffee
Add the desired amount of freshly ground coffee to the filter. For a cup of coffee of approximately 200 ml, you will need about 15 grams of coffee.
Step 4: Boil Water
Bring the water to a boil in a kettle. Then let the water cool down slightly so that the water is not too hot. The ideal temperature for Pour Over coffee is between 90 and 96 degrees Celsius.
Step 5: Pour Water Over the Coffee
Then slowly pour the water over the ground coffee. Start in the center of the filter and then pour in circles outwards. Pour just enough water to cover the coffee and let it rest for a few seconds so that the water can flow through the coffee.
Step 6: Repeat the Process
Repeat this process until you have brewed enough coffee. You may need to add water multiple times to brew enough coffee.
