How do you clean a JURA espresso machine?
Every coffee machine needs regular maintenance. A big part of this is the cleaning process. With JURA coffee machines, the demand for cleaning varies between 180 and 220 brewed cups of coffee. Cleaning the machine is essential if you enjoy the great taste of your coffee. Before you start, please read the operating instructions for your JURA machine. The machine itself indicates in the display when it needs to be cleaned. You can ignore this message so as not to postpone your regular coffee time. We advise you not to ignore the message for too long and to clean the machine at a quiet moment within a day after the message. To clean your machine, go to the maintenance screen and press “clean device”. The machine will show you step by step what you need to do in the cleaning process. At some point, the machine gives the message to insert the cleaning tablet in the machine. The JURA cleaning tablets are semi-circular and two-colored. Insert the cleaning tablet into the opening provided for that purpose on the back of the machine and close the cover again. The machine will now start the cleaning program. You can, if you find it convenient, place a container under the coffee spout to catch the water during cleaning. You can also collect the water in the drip tray, but you will have to empty it in between. After the cleaning process, empty all the collection trays and place them back into the machine. The cleaning process is now complete.
How to descale a JURA espresso machine?
To ensure the quality of your coffee you will need to descale the machine from time to time. For convenience, JURA has made all the steps for maintaining your coffee machine as easy as possible. We recommend always using a CLARIS water filter. This water filter ensures that water is filtered and the taste and quality of your coffee is constant. Before you start descaling your machine, read the instructions for use. The method of descaling each JURA model may vary. The products you use to descale the machine are aggressive. So read carefully the instructions for use and warning on the package of your descaling tablets as well. The JURA coffee machine gives a message on the display when it needs to be descaled. You can ignore this message if you do not have time to descale the machine. However, we recommend that you do not ignore this message for too long in order to preserve the optimum taste of your coffee. Before you start descaling, check whether there is a water filter in the machine. If so, pour all the water out of the reservoir and remove the water filter. Fill a container with 500ml of water and dissolve three descaling tablets in it. When these are completely dissolved, put this water in the reservoir of your machine, without the water filter. In the maintenance menu of your JURA machine, press descale. The machine will now ask for confirmation to start the descaling procedure. After confirming, press start to start the procedure.
Descaling the machine takes quite a long time. Do not turn the machine off in the meantime. When the machine asks you to empty the residual water container, you are almost done. Empty the container and replace it. The machine now tells you to fill the water tank. Before putting fresh water back in, rinse the residual decalcifier water out of the reservoir. After rinsing, the descaling of your machine is complete and it will indicate that you can make coffee again.
